ON HEARING THE NEWS OF ZORAN RADOSAVLJEVIC'S DEATH
Such fear from the whiteness of the paper… What to write about Cupa, and not to seem conventional, not to seem heartbreaking, but still to be in his manner. And who knows whether I'm wrong, whether He would like this at all. However, He deserves it, He deserves more then this, but…
Zoran Radosavljvic Cupa, Best, Matori, Cuponije, for some simply Zoran. A rocker, a humanist, a pacifist, and a democrat in his soul to the very end, a persistent fighter for some higher ideals, not understood by many of us, but we knew that they were right because He said so. What to numerate, which of his best traits, and not to omit any. And how it can be numerated, on a space small as this one, all what he did, all that he achieved, even in moments of serious illness. From where to start His creative path… The recount is too short…However…Nis, Cacak, Leskovac, Nis again… His rocker way always left a strong patent. Decaci sa Morave, Bubamare, Galija , Perestrojka…And always the best… endless number of LPs, CDs… And just how much he helped young musicians, the beginners… He understood them and supported to his fullest, and everybody was unconditionally thankful, because he deserved it. And to talk about his organizational abilities… "The Music Club", the gigs of young bends in "Pan", "Rock"… And he was always affectionate and with a smile on his face, but a strict critic in the same time. To follow, "The Cultural Center of Nis" where he was not only the director, but an honest man and a good organizer. Everybody who "smelled" culture could have relied on him. He had time for everybody and everything but his illness. And He delt with it. Until his last breath.
Many had the titles, honors, and He was the bearer of the democratic changes in our city. In many ways, mostly as the owner of a public-address system, on the main square in 1996 (in times when nobody but Him would do it). And He never complained, even when he realized that he was overcome by his illness. It was only his illness that he didn't have time for. And for that reason he left us all one Car's photo, as a relic, in which He is covered with nylon, with a poster, accidentally left there, on which it was written "What is most important is to be healthy". He knew that, but didn't care much. It was more important that the ideas he was fighting for would persist to the very end. And whether they did, He was the one who felt it.
Everybody who knew him, and that were many, all over ex-Yu, everybody to whom he had helped, and that were all, will be left with an enormous emptiness, in city streets, at places where he used to go…
And for that reason, angels are the best… Rest In Peace, Our Angel…!
